May 22, 2007 - Well, I meant to write this letter on May 13th which would have been the one year anniversary of the Gypsy Eyes Launch Party, but I got busy and didn't do it. But I am doing it now so hopefully that makes everything better.
What are we doing you might be asking yourself. I will tell you in a neat, orderly, manner of fact, way.
Mikal Evans
Mikal is currently in the hallowed halls of Whalesong studios working on tracks for her new record. Depending on how fast we can move, we may be able to release something this fall. Keep checking back as we will be posting photos and will get some music on the site for you to hear once we get something finished.
John Bustine
Well, it is official, John Bustine's record is finished! We are sending out for production today and you can look for the album, Waltzes and Pleas, in stores on September 18th. We will get some of the new tracks, along with John's page up very soon. I don't know why we haven't got his page up before now, but we haven't.
Brandon Butler
Brandon is trying to bring sexy back and I swear it is working! The guy looks great! Check out the latest issue of Harp Magazine to read words of wisdom from Brandon, the sexy one. The issue of Harp also has a bunch of pretty girls on the cover and other good information about music on the inside. So, you should buy it and buy Brandon's record.
Vandaveer
We have BIG news on Vandaveer. He is going to be opening up for Alejandro Escovedo on a bunch of dates this summer in the Northeast. Dates are posted for you. We are all looking forward to these shows and hope you can make it out to see him when he comes to your town.
Revival
Josh has been hard at work the last few months. Not only has he been producing the John Bustine record, he is also currently producing the Mikal Evans record! In addition to that, he has been working on some new tracks, finishing up some old tracks and if all goes well, we will have an EP for you all in the fall. We are also trying to get Josh some dates in Australia and New Zealand over the summer, for those of you Down Under, it will be the winter, but it doesn't matter as long as he gets over there to play for you!
Shortstack
Shortstack are still on a little bit of a break dealing with the same family matter that forced them to cancel their tour. Fortunately, things seem to be settling down a little bit. They are getting ready to enter the studio to record the cover EP we talked about last news letter, if we get it done in time, it too will come out in the Fall. If not, it will come out early 2008.
Other News
For those of you in the DC area, Gypsy Eyes artists will be doing a series of free in-store performances at area Olsson's Book and Record Stores. Check the tour dates section to find out who plays where and when. These are going to be some fun shows, so please do come out and show your support so the folks at Olsson's can be very impressed at how many fans we have and they will buy more records!!
The Farm Party has been postponed until we can all find time in our schedules to make it work. Don't worry though, we are going to do it, and it will be better than before, we promise!!!
We will also have some Gypsy Eyes ringtones for you! That is right, you can always have your favorite Gypsy Eyes music with you. I am supposed to have all the info tomorrow on how you can purchase these sultry sounds, I think you will be able to do it direct from our website!! Something to do with texting a code to some number and then you get another code to get the ringtone. Technology amazes me. So until next time…
